The first of the three titles in the screwball Hong Kong "Hearts" series. Alex, a creative director, temporarily fills in as conductor for a choir. Two playful kids give him a big headache. She eventually discovers that Alex is a gentleman and mutual attraction blossoms into a love affair. Soon after, Alex's ex-girlfriend comes back to him, wanting to patch up their relationship. He is torn and must decide between the two.

Then, in the next scene and completely without explanation, they are in bed together. They remain lovestruck and as close to inseparable as circumstances allow for the remainder of the story. There are some hurdles, the most significant being George's long-term girlfriend Doris, who is also George's boss's daughter. Initially, Doris takes Sam's arrival calmly. But she chooses to bribe Sam's agent, which results in Sam being charged and taken to court.

Treasury employee Fatty (Eric Tsang) discovered that bags of used 30 million in Hong Kong Dollars have not been incinerated due to a system error; therefore, he hatches up a plot to grab the doe before they are burned. He seeks his friends Mark (Mark Cheng) and Tomboy (Anglie Leung) to help him with the heist; but, they also enlist actual thief Baldy (Karl Maka), who had just been released from prison, to double the assistance with his thievery skills. But, Baldy wants the money for his own and to share it with love interest Siu-Fung (Paula Tsui). Hot on their trail is a hothead inspector (Ching Wong) and a nun, Sister Maria (Brigitte Lin), who wants to save them for redemption.
